- Learn the basics of how each service works
- Manage free tier limitations
Before you know it, you’re managing a collection of demo accounts across disparate services just to implement a single workflow. This scattered approach can quickly become unwieldy, especially if you’re implementing multiple templates.
Templates Often Don’t Follow Latest Practices
Another issue is that many templates don’t follow the latest build options available in n8n. The platform evolves rapidly, regularly adding new nodes and capabilities that can streamline workflows. However, templates often lag behind, using older, more complex approaches rather than newer, more efficient methods.
This means you might be learning outdated practices or implementing unnecessarily complex solutions when simpler options now exist.

- Use templates as inspiration – Study the logic and approach of templates without necessarily implementing them exactly as designed
- Focus on core services – Prioritize connecting the tools your organization already uses daily
- Regularly audit your connections – Periodically review and clean up unused service connections to avoid the “random grab bag” effect
