this is a quick index to the various ai tools I have been playing with, and I will add extra links to posts where I expand on my experiments and thoughts
open-hands / devin + claude 3.5 & 3.7
this was very easy to setup, provides a coding buddy, agent setup. however, claude gets overwhelmed with context/tokens and you can become rate limited incredibly fast.
when it is working it is fantastic, but until the tokens are managed better, not that useful.
F5-TTS + local models
mildly involved setup, playing with this for voice cloning for possible podcast ideas. wow. incredible.
runs locally on a 4gb RTX 3050. it isn’t perfect, but creating a script in gemini and feeding that into F5TTS – the quality is impressive and I am sure it can be improved with playing.
easy to setup, hard to get good results from, very useful in day to day office work.
irritating licensing.
if you have a 4gb+ GPU this is definitely worth playing with.
runs local open source models. your GPU will be primary limitation, but you can still get good use from the smaller models.
trivially easy setup, great community on reddit. this is a playground for learning about how llm models work.
